It’s great to welcome you to the 20th bi-annual Nelson Roberson Robinson family reunion. We are truly grateful that we can gather together like this. It means so much to reconnect and celebrate our family.

Whether we haven’t seen each other in a long time or just a little while, every one of you makes this reunion special. Let’s make the most of our time together, share stories, and create new memories. As we enjoy the laughter, love, and each other’s company, let’s also take a moment to honor those family members who are no longer with us. Their love and contributions remain an integral part of our family’s story, and sharing our favorite memories of them can be a beautiful way to keep their spirit alive.

Reunion History

Nelson is the root of our family with two branches, Roberson and Robinson. Our family celebration was the vision and dream of Dorothy Nelson Johnson. In the 1970s, Dorothy Nelson shared her vision with Roberta Gouldrock and other family members. Then in 1977, a small group of people from the Elders family (Dorothy’s maternal family) and the Nelson-Roberson-Robinson family (Dorothy’s paternal family) met at her home in Chattanooga, TN.

The celebration at Dorothy’s home was a joint family reunion with the Elders and the Nelson-Roberson- Robinson families which continued in the years 1978-1980. The joint family reunions scheduled in 1983 (Fresno, CA) and 1984 (Chicago, IL) were canceled. In 1986, the reunion resumed in Birmingham, AL and was affectionately named the “Nelson-Roberson-Robinson Family Reunion”. In 1988, the reunion was held in Los Angeles, CA. It was during the Los Angeles reunion where family members committed to meeting bi-annually. Since 1986, our family reunions have been held in the following locations:
